Trip Highlights

The moments that matter most

Landing at Kala Patthar (5,545m) is the highlight. For 10 to 15 minutes you stand at the highest viewpoint on the EBC trail with Everest, the Khumbu Icefall, Lhotse, and Nuptse directly in front of you. The same view that takes trekkers 12 days to reach.

The Everest View Hotel breakfast stop at 3,880m gives you time to relax, eat, and photograph the panorama from a heated dining room. The hotel is one of the highest in the world and overlooks the entire Khumbu.

The return flight offers aerial views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde Peak, and the terraced foothills of eastern Nepal. The perspective from a helicopter is completely different from the trail.

Trip Overview

A closer look

The Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour is a 1-day aerial experience that flies from Kathmandu to the Everest region, landing at Kala Patthar (5,545m) for views of Everest's south face and the Khumbu Icefall. A second stop at the Everest View Hotel (3,880m) above Namche Bazaar includes breakfast with a Himalayan panorama. The entire trip takes 4 to 5 hours, returning to Kathmandu by early afternoon.

The flight route follows the Dudh Koshi valley through the Khumbu, passing over Lukla, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Monastery, and Gorak Shep. At Kala Patthar you spend 10 to 15 minutes on the ground for photographs. The aerial perspective of the Khumbu Icefall, Everest's summit pyramid, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam is available nowhere else in Nepal.

No trekking fitness required. The helicopter does all the climbing. Suitable for travelers of any age or fitness level who want to see Everest without a multi-day trek. Oxygen is available on board for altitude sensitivity.

For the full trekking experience to Everest Base Camp, the Everest Base Camp Trek takes 15 days on foot (USD 1,675). For a scenic flight without landing in the mountains, the Everest Mountain Flight is a 1-hour fixed-wing flight from Kathmandu (USD 240).
