Trip Overview

A closer look

We are a Nepal-based tour company offering the Kailash Mansarovar Tour to the most sacred place for Hindus: Mt. Kailash. The mountain is considered the abode of Lord Shiva and is sacred to Buddhists, Jains, and followers of the Bon religion. Hindus believe Mt. Kailash is the abode of Shiva and that Lake Mansarovar is the soul of Brahma. In Hinduism, Shiva is the god of destruction and transformation, while Brahma is the creator. Tibetans call this mountain Kang Rinpoche. Pre-Buddhist shamanistic communities regard Mt. Kailash as the soul of Tibet. Jains call it Mount Ashtapada, the place where their religion was founded.

Mt. Kailash (6,714 m), sacred to followers of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon, is visited by only a few thousand pilgrims each year due to its remoteness. The region holds deep religious significance. A single circumambulation of the mountain is believed to be enough to erase all the sins of a lifetime.

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra includes a trek to Lake Mansarovar at 4,510 m on the Tibetan Plateau. The Mansarovar parikrama (circumambulation) is an 85 km trek. Hindus believe that bathing in this lake directly grants a place in Brahma’s paradise, and sipping the sacred water releases one from the cycle of birth and death. The Kailash Mansarovar Tour is a challenging and difficult journey. It takes you to high altitudes on rough and rocky trails, and walking through the remote areas of Tibet requires strength and endurance. The tour crosses the Nepal-Tibet border and therefore requires a passport and the necessary permits.
