Trip Highlights

The moments that matter most

Nagarkot sunrise is the most famous near-Kathmandu mountain view. On clear mornings, the horizon from east to west shows Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and Manaslu. The sun rises behind the peaks, creating a golden light show.

Changu Narayan temple is the oldest Hindu temple in the Kathmandu Valley, with stone carvings dating to the 4th century Licchavi period. The temple sits on a ridge above the valley with mountain views behind.

The descent through pine and rhododendron forest from Nagarkot to Changu Narayan is quiet, shaded, and scenic. The trail passes through farming villages with terraced fields and occasional tea shops.
