The Everest Base Camp Overland Tour on the Tibet side is comparatively easier than the Nepal-side trek. The tour is primarily by jeep, so it does not require as much physical endurance or time, yet it fulfills the dream of reaching the foot of the world’s highest mountain, Mt. Everest (8,848 m), in the most accessible way. The tour includes visits to the old city of Lhasa and other Tibetan places like Gyantse and Shigatse, where you experience the unique traditional lifestyle of the Tibetan people.
The Everest Base Camp Tour on the Tibet side has two options: a flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa, then travel by jeep from Lhasa to Base Camp; or a drive along the Araniko Highway to Lhasa. The flight offers panoramic views of the high mountains, while the drive showcases the natural beauty of the mountains and the lifestyle of the high mountain people until you reach the Nepal-China border.
In Lhasa, there are many ancient and religious sites to explore, such as Jokhang Temple, Potala Palace, and Sera Monastery. The journey continues through Gyantse to Shigatse, with opportunities to see lakes, mountains, and glaciers along the way. A visit to Tashilhunpo Monastery enriches the spiritual experience before reaching Base Camp. The tour passes through Tibetan settlements, giving visitors insight into Tibetan lifestyle and culture. Highlights include Lhasa city, the Potala Palace, Tashilhunpo Monastery, Yamdrok Lake, Rongbuk Monastery, and the unspoiled culture of the Tibetans.
