Combine the Langtang Valley with the sacred Gosaikunda Lakes on a 17-day circuit. Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m), Laurebina Pass (4,610m), 108 alpine lakes, and Helambu descent. Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site. From USD 1,275.
Gosaikunda Lake at 4,380m is one of Nepal's most sacred bodies of water. Hindu mythology holds that Shiva thrust his trident into the mountainside to create the lake. The water is deep blue, surrounded by rock and sparse alpine grass. On the August Janai Purnima festival, thousands of pilgrims make the climb from Dhunche.
The crossing of Laurebina Pass (4,610m) connects the wild Gosaikunda basin with the green Helambu valley. The descent through rhododendron forest is dramatic: within two hours you drop from barren rock into dense canopy.
Helambu is culturally distinct from Langtang. The Hyolmo people practice a form of Tibetan Buddhism with their own artistic traditions. The villages have carved wooden windows, monastery-schools, and apple orchards. Chisapani at the end of the trek offers a final ridge sunset over the Kathmandu valley.
The Gosaikunda Pass Trek is a 17-day route that combines the Langtang Valley (Kyanjin Gompa, 3,870m) with the sacred Gosaikunda Lakes (4,380m) and a crossing of Laurebina Pass (4,610m) into the Helambu region. This is the most complete trek in the Langtang National Park area, covering two valleys, a high pass, and a sacred lake system in a single circuit.
From Syabrubesi the trail follows the Langtang Valley to Kyanjin Gompa, then returns to Lama Hotel and branches south toward Gosaikunda. The lake system sits at 4,380m in a glacial basin: 108 named lakes, with the main Gosaikunda Lake sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. Thousands of pilgrims visit during the Janai Purnima festival in August.
Laurebina Pass (4,610m) connects Gosaikunda to Helambu. The descent drops through rhododendron forest and Hyolmo villages to Chisapani, a ridge settlement with views of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and the Kathmandu valley.
Permits: Langtang National Park Entry Permit (NPR 3,000) and TIMS card, both included.
For the Langtang Valley without the Gosaikunda extension, the Langtang Valley Trek reaches Kyanjin Gompa in 11 days (USD 775). For a cultural focus in the same region, the Tamang Heritage Trek explores Tamang villages in 15 days. For a technical pass crossing, the Ganja La Pass Trek crosses a 5,122m pass.

This march I had a wanderful experience of trekking solo in the Langtang Valley and then to Gosaikunda lakes All together 16 days of trekking in changeable weather - sun, rain, snow, strong wind etc. Yet we managed to archive all our goals which was possible owing to the great job of Min who is not only intelligent, profesional and experienced guide but also a very good companion. The trek was organised by the Mountain Hawk. I felt very safe from the first moment of my contact with Prem. He was very helpful to me not only during the preparatory phase. He monitored the event on a daily bases caring about adecuate standard of safety and accommodation. Also, he helped me a lot after the trek, when my flight was cancelled due to the war. I am very grateful to Prem and Min for making this time so unforgettable adventure. By the way, it was already my second trek with the Mountain Hawk. Last year I went on the Mount Everest Base Camp trek which was a truly remarcable time for me. Moreover, I am already planning my next trek with the Mountain Hawk!
