Embark on an exhilarating journey to summit Pisang Peak at 6,091 m, a test of tenacity and courage with the reward of panoramic views of the Annapurna Himalayan range.
Blend your Pisang Peak ascent with the iconic Annapurna Circuit, a trail of discovery that weaves through diverse landscapes, cultures, and terrain.
At the summit of Pisang Peak, immerse yourself in the breathtaking panorama of the Annapurna Himalayan range.
Pisang Peak is one of the most popular trekking peaks in the Annapurna region of Nepal and lies on the way to one of the highest passes in the world, Thorong La. It offers a wide scope for exploring the surrounding environment from high altitude. The striking feature of this peak is its western flank, which is guarded by a hanging glacier that poses a challenge to climbers. The very end of the western ridge has huge rock slabs that make it extremely difficult to climb. Despite these odds, a German expedition set a benchmark by scaling this peak for the first time in 1955, and since then it has been followed by numerous individuals and groups. This spectacular peak rises above Pisang village and yak pastures, forming a pyramid climb of ice and snow.
The journey to Pisang Peak leads from Kathmandu to Besisahar. Once you reach this picturesque place, the trek begins along the regular path of the Annapurna Circuit. From Pisang village, the route ascends through sparse woods and a pasture at Kharka (4,380 m), an ideal place for setting up Base Camp. A high camp is set up at 5,400 m on the southwest ridge. This area is entirely covered in snow from the end of November to the end of March. From here, you ascend with some difficulty and reach the summit of the peak. Once at the summit, you are greeted by splendid views of Annapurna II and IV, Gangapurna, and the Glacial Dome. After a successful summit climb, you trek back down to the Manang valley and continue to Thorong Phedi. From there, you attempt to cross the high Thorong La Pass at dawn and arrive at the holy site of Muktinath. You then descend through the lovely village of Jharkot and Kagbeni (a gateway to Upper Mustang) to Jomsom, and take a flight to Pokhara before returning to Kathmandu.
The Pisang Peak itinerary can be combined with the popular Annapurna Circuit Trek to make the most of an extraordinary adventure in this region. It is a journey of immense satisfaction and pride.

A strong south west ridge line with a sheltered base camp in a yak pasture at 4,380m.
A few things worth knowing before you commit. No sugar-coating, no surprises on day one.

Teahouses on the approach are simple and basic. Electricity and hot showers may cost extra in the higher villages.
