Trail conditions in November
Dry air is the November gift. The fourth Gokyo lake in the research record was well mixed by early November and below 4°C by late November, with ice not forming until mid-December. A November visitor therefore arrives in the last open-water weeks of the year. The Gokyo Ri climb on day 9 follows the same clear mornings as October, in colder air.
On the pass, the honest statement is that no source publishes a November snow depth. Operators rate autumn as the most reliable season, and our tour FAQ calls the conditions stable. A storm can still change the track, which is why the decision on day 10 at Thangnak, at 4,700m, is made on the evening and the morning, not on the calendar.
The last days are dry underfoot. Pheriche at 4,200m on day 14, then about 7 hours each to Namche and Lukla on days 15 and 16, take place under the driest sky of the year, and the cold at night in Lobuche and Pheriche is the part to pack for.
