Annapurna Circuit Trek in November

Superb walking conditions on dry, firm trail with the sharpest light of the year. The low sun angle throws the Annapurna wall into relief from the Ghyaru traverse in a way the high October sun flattens.

The pass remains straightforward through the first three weeks. By the last week of November the first winter snow often reaches Thorong La, and while it usually clears, microspikes stop being optional insurance and start being sensible kit.

The eastern side turns through November. The green of the monsoon and early autumn goes to brown and gold, and the contrast with the fresh snow appearing on the high peaks is what makes November photographs of this circuit look different from October ones.

The first ten days carry October numbers and the trail empties steadily after that. Thorong Phedi stops being a crush by mid-month, which is the single biggest practical difference between November and October on this route.

Everything stays open and fully staffed through most of the month. Higher lodges begin thinning service in the last week as winter approaches, and the Himalayan Rescue Association post at Manang closes toward the end of the season.

Dry roads at their most reliable and easing demand after the first week. Vehicles are simpler to arrange than in October, particularly in the second half of the month.
