Annapurna Circuit Trek in July

The Marsyangdi is wet, green and loud. Waterfalls that are a trickle in October run hard, the forest below Chame is dense and dripping, and leeches are present in the lower sections. Slick trail and high streams slow the pace.

Manang onward is the reason to be here. The rain shadow holds, the high country is often clear when the valley below is not, and the pass crossing is straightforward. The single most reliable pleasure of a July circuit is arriving in Manang after four wet days and finding sunshine.

The Kali Gandaki side is dry and windy as always, and Marpha, Tukuche and Kalopani are quiet and open. The last stretch below Ghasa toward Tatopani puts you back into monsoon forest, and the Ghorepani climb at the end is a wet one.

Very quiet everywhere. The eastern lodges run on family basis with few guests, Manang keeps several houses open, and the Mustang villages operate normally because they have year-round road trade. Thorong Phedi runs thin and should be confirmed rather than assumed.

This is the decisive constraint. The Besisahar road and the jeep track to Dharapani are at their most fragile in July, and landslide closures can cost a day or more. There is no flight alternative into the eastern side. Two spare days at the start of a July itinerary is the minimum sensible contingency.
