Trail conditions in August
Eastern conditions match July, with the cumulative damage of two months of rain showing on the lower trail and the jeep road. Expect repaired or rerouted sections between Besisahar and Dharapani.
The high country around Manang and Yak Kharka carries its best wildflower display of the year in August. The Ice Lake hike at 4,620m through August meadows, on one of the clear mornings the rain shadow regularly provides, is a genuinely underrated day.
The pass is mild and the descent to Muktinath is dry. From there down the Kali Gandaki you are in the bright, windy half of the circuit, and the contrast with the walk in is at its sharpest in August.
