Is November a good month for the Langtang Valley trek?

It is one of the two best. November is the driest month of the year with visibility matching October, and the trail empties after the first ten days. The cost is colder nights at Kyanjin Gompa.

Is October or November better for Langtang?

November for most people, particularly the middle of the month. Views are equally clear, the trail and the road are both easier, and the only trade is temperature.

How cold is Kyanjin Gompa in November?

Nights run -4 to -8°C, colder in the final week, with days of 4 to 9°C. The deep valley loses direct sun in the mid-afternoon, so it feels colder than the daytime figure.

Is there snow in Langtang in November?

Usually only in the last week, and it typically clears within a few days. A late-November group should carry microspikes as a precaution.

November is the driest month of the year here and holds October's visibility throughout. The variable is cold and it moves fast: Kyanjin Gompa loses several degrees across the month, and the shrinking daylight in a valley that already loses the sun early makes late November feel closer to winter than the numbers suggest. The low sun angle does improve the light on Langtang Lirung considerably.

Dry and firm end to end, with the first snow possible in the upper valley in the final week. It usually clears within days. The forest below Lama Hotel is bare, opening sightlines that the summer canopy closes.

Tserko Ri stays a good objective through most of November and gets progressively colder. By the last week the start needs to be later rather than earlier so that you are not climbing in shadow, which inverts the usual advice.

The valley colour is at its best in November. Gold grass on the floor, fresh snow on the peaks above, and the clearest air of the year between the two.

The first ten days still carry October numbers and the trail empties steadily afterward. By the last week of November you can arrive at Kyanjin Gompa without a booking and get a room, and a few lodges begin closing for winter.

Everything stays open and staffed through the first three weeks. Dining rooms get comfortable as the evenings sharpen, and the stoves go on earlier than in October.

The road is dry and at its most reliable, and vehicle demand eases after the first week or so. This is one of the easier months to arrange the drive at short notice, particularly in the second half.
