Trail conditions in October
Everything the route can offer is switched on. Trails are dry and fast, high passes and side trips are all in condition, the harvest is in and the villages are at full working strength for the season. Dawn at Kala Patthar in October is the image most trekkers carry in their head when they book this trek, and October is the month most likely to hand it over exactly as imagined.
The density is real, and it concentrates: the trail itself absorbs the numbers surprisingly well, but bottlenecks form at the suspension bridges below Namche in mid-morning, at lodge dining rooms from late afternoon, and on the final moraine path to Base Camp around midday. Walking rhythm matters more than any other month: leave early, arrive early, and the crowd becomes background rather than obstacle.
