Trip Overview

‘When everything feels like an uphill struggle, just think of the view from the top.’

Conquer the Mera peak and rewrite the name on the history books of mountaineering alongside legendary climbers like Hilary, Norgay and Scott Fischer etc. it becomes a more challenging trek than other treks due to its elevation. Walk through the beautiful Nepalese wilderness and quaint villages which gives you a glimpse into the rich culture of the locals. This is your trip towards the base camp passing by places like Khare, Khartitang, Thangang from Lulka. This is a tiring and challenging trek but the rewards you get after you conquer the peak are going to outshine your effort. Once you are on the top of the peak the spectacular Himalayas views as far as Everest will make you fell worth of every penny spent for the peak climbing in Nepal. Gaze to the towering mountains up close like Amadablam, Makalu, Khang Tega, Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest and other Himalayas.

Mera Peak Itinerary Outline

Day 01 – Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1345meters). Overnight at hotel.

Day 02 – Pre-trip Meeting and Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03 – Morning fly to Lukla (2800 meters) trek to Chutang (3020meters) 4 hours. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 04 – Trek to Khartitang (3900meters) via Zatrawa La Pass (4610meters) 6 hours. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 05 – Trek to Kothe (4095meters) 5 hours. Overnight teahouse.

Day 06 – Trek to Thangnag (4,350meters) 6 hours. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 07 – Rest and acclimatization day at Thangnag, visit Sabal Tsho Lake, acclimatization hike to the cairn (5271m) on the flank of Kusum Kangaroo peak. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 08 – Trek to Khare (4900meters) 4 hours. Overnight at tented cam teahouse.

Day 09 – Trek to Mera La (5415meters) and Base Camp (5300m) 5 hours  train to become familiar with using crampons, rope and ice axe, camping.. Overnight at tented camp.

Day 10 – Climb Base Camp to High Camp (5800meters) 5 hours. Overnight at tented camp.

Day 11 – Summit to Mera peak (6454meters) and then return to Khare (4900meters) 10 hours. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 12 – Spare day in case of bad weather. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 13 – Trek to Khothe(3600 meters). 6 hours. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 14 – Trek to Thuli Kharka(4200 meters) 6 hours. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 15 – Trek to Lukla (2804 meters) 7 hours. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 16 – Morning flight to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.

Day 17 – Leisure in Kathmandu Overnight at hotel.

Day 18 – Transfer to international airport for your final departure.

Important Notice: Lukla Flight Details and Itinerary Impact

Dear Traveler, We wish to update you on Lukla flight details that may impact your itinerary. During peak seasons (March, April, May, October, and November), flights to Lukla will operate from Ramechhap/Manthali, approximately a 5 to 6-hour drive from Kathmandu. Conversely, in non-peak seasons (January, February, June, July, August, September, and December), flights are from Kathmandu. Please note that the airline determines flight operations based on traveler volume each month. Flight decisions are beyond our control.

Lukla flights are subject to delays or cancellations due to adverse weather, airport congestion, runway conditions, and topographical challenges. For Everest region treks, we recommend allocating an extra one or two days in your schedule to account for potential flight disruptions. This precaution ensures timely boarding of your pre-planned international flight. Thank you for your understanding and preparedness.

Is Mera peak climb right for you?

The teahouses that we stay in during the trek are very simple with basic facilities. Access to electricity points may cost extra.

Excellent level of fitness and mentality is required to complete this trip.

There is a genuine risk of being affected by Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) as this trip includes one or more overnight stays over 3500 meters.

All the travelers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
