Langtang Valley Trek

The following eight  days itinerary goes from  the rich valley of Langtang region, at the border with Tibet. Trek through the narrow, high valley of  Langtang, trucked in between Langtang  Lirung to the north and a range  of lower mountains to south , attracts fewer pilgrims and trekkers. It is sparsely populated and access is difficult. Nevertheless , the trek offers surprising contrasts. Up to 3,000 meters, the progression occurs along the langtang khola  which runs through a narrow gorge, among several bamboo jungles , temperate forests  and alpine grassland. Kaynjin  gompa (3,950 meters) , the last inhabited hamlet, serves as a summer paster for yak herds. This trek is the closest you can get  to the glacial area of the High Himalaya which forms the border with Chinese Tibet.
The season for Langtang valley trek is generally the same as in the rest of Nepal . Springtime is rhododendron season and the treks in April offers a dramatic display of red, pink and white flowers.
